Did you know that if you take too much vitamin C, you are just wasting it because too much of vitamin C in the body will only get flushed out of the body system. In recent years, many health care companies have started to sell vitamin Cs that are timed-release. This means that if you consume a 1000mg vitamin C tablet, your body will not straight away be provided with the 1000mg of vitamin C. Instead, this timed-release function works to release a little vitamin C at a time so that your body has a chance to absorb it and not let it get flushed out. This way, you will be able to maximise the absorption of the vitamin.
I also read on a website called MayoClinic, where someone asked if too much vitamin C is harmful to the body. Apparently, too much of a good thing like vitamin C can in fact harm the body! Read this quoted text from MayoClinic about what could go wrong if you take too much vitamin Cs:
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is a water-soluble vitamin that supports normal growth and development. Vitamin C also helps your body absorb iron. Rarely, too much vitamin C can cause faintness, dizziness and fatigue.

vitamins are only needed in really small amount by our body, so any type of vitamins shouldn’t be overdose.
Consuming vitamin C is not recommended on an empty stomach, both because of the acidity, and also because on an empty stomach absorption into ones system isn’t as good as taking it with or after a meal.
I do sometimes take megadoses of vitamin C, but I also make sure I drink plenty of plain water, too. The diarrhoea bit is usually my gauge of when the body is saturated with vitamin C.
Incidentally, the best form of soluble vitamin C on the market today (IMHO) is Berocca, as it also contains B-complex, calcium and magnesium – all of which enhances absorption.
