Do you think Wi-Fi is harmful?

What do you think of the radio waves or whatever frequency stuff that we don’t get to see with our naked eyes? Do they adversely affect us? I ask because I wonder if connecting the laptop to Wi-Fi frequently actually causes us to absorb whatever wave or energy there is harmful. Everyone talks about the magnetic wave of the mobile phone and how it is bad and can fry our brains when we use the phone too long, but what about the computers and all that wireless connection we have these days?

Shopping warily but saving some money…

Earlier in the day I went to the IT mall to find my Acer Aspire battery replacement. I don’t often go there unless there’s some IT needs I have and I know for a fact I can get it a lot cheaper in that IT mall. The reason I don’t like that place is because I always feel quite cramped shopping there as the aisles to walk in are quite narrow. It doesn’t help that it’s always crowded so making your way past the small aisles without coming into contact with others is pretty hard.

I shop quite warily at such places. I don’t really dare to touch anything there. Not the lift buttons, the bars on the escalators, etc. I am afraid of contracting some weird bacteria or virus from there.

Do you get such feelings at any places? I would normally just shrug and say “don’t go then” if that’s how I feel. But when it comes to saving a lot more money by going there, what should I do?

Spend wisely

The other day I was out shopping for some gadgets and being an impulsive shopper, I ended up buying more than what I intended. Instead of just going home with the modulator that I planned to purchase, I also had in hand a brand new computer bag and a Promotional usb drive!

I think marketing is very important. It has made me buy 2 items that I didn’t quite need but because they were on “sale”, and because the guy was telling me how those items were selling like hot cakes, I couldn’t resist thinking they were good for me too. How many times have you fallen into similar trappings?

Times are not exactly great at the moment so I have to say that spending must be done wisely. It was only after the purchases that I realised how much more I’ve overspend without giving a second thought. Not to say that I regretted my purchases because I still enjoy what I bought, but I could have done without them and have more money to spare or save up.

So the next time you go shopping, try as hard as you can to stick to your shopping list only!

I love the convenience of a netbook!

Before I’ve tried my hands on using a netbook, I used to wonder why people would spend money on a netbook, whether it’s to be used as a main notebook or a second one just to lug around places when traveling. But before I knew it, I had the urgency to use it one day and I loaned a netbook for 2 days to be on the go.

Since then, I fell so deeply in love with the portability of a netbook! I didn’t carry it around with the netbook bag that came with it. Instead, I just held it in my palm and was mostly on my way this way and that.

Now if you ask me if I would consider buying a netbook for myself, I would say why not? It really beats having to lug around a laptop. I can even put it into my usual bag that I carry around because it’s big enough to hold the netbook and even the netbook accessories that come with it. How much more convenient and light weight does a computer get?

I was told that the tech-air cases which are supposedly more protective are better to lug a netbook in compared to how I was lugging it around in my own bag. I guess it’s true but I don’t like carrying about a bag that looks anything like a computer bag. Besides, if I were to carry one of those, I would be carrying 2 bags instead of just my bag which can fit all the stuff I need.

So my verdict at the end of the day is that yes I’m more willing to spend money on a netbook now. It lessens the strain on my shoulder to carry a laptop and it sure gives me greater convenience!

A navigational tool like a GPS system could be a life saver

In times like these where crime rates are on the rise, I personally feel that it is a much safer thing for us to do to own some form of a navigational tool like a GPS device. It’s no point getting lost in an unfamiliar area and wasting time trying to find our way. These days, you also don’t know who’s tailing you and their intention. So stopping over to get help on directions is not always safe.

I am a user and believer of gps systems and I highly recommend people to have one. There are many different types in terms of hardware and software of the gps available. In terms of brands, they also range from some very affordable ones to some high-end ones. So take your pick according to affordability.

It is especially useful for ladies, not because I am stereotyped that women get lost more often than men. I say this because I feel that women are more susceptible to being crime victims than men are. So it would be a good safety measure for women to have a one of these devices so that they do not have to subject themselves to strangers on the street should they get lost.

Do you agree that such a device can be a life saver?
