I find it more practical to be using things that I can truly afford than to pay through my nose for something that has a brand name attached to it. Unless of course I like it for the design or quality, then I make an exception. It’s definitely not a brand conscious thing for me.

When it comes to household items, it is the same for me too. I go for quality and if the brand names like Signature Kitchen and Toto toilets give me the value that I pay for their high quality products, then sure, I won’t mind going ahead with the big ticket purchase.

What about you? How brand conscious are you when it comes to buying the bigger items to the smaller ones?

Well I sometimes do, and sometimes don’t. I think it’s the same for my spouse. What about you? Do you go discuss about buying that expensive samsung led hdtv that you’ve been eyeing for the last 2 months? Or do you just go out there, buy it and then justify it when you get home? Or better yet, hope that your spouse really likes and enjoys what you’ve bought too?

I shop quite warily at such places. I don’t really dare to touch anything there. Not the lift buttons, the bars on the escalators, etc. I am afraid of contracting some weird bacteria or virus from there.

Do you get such feelings at any places? I would normally just shrug and say “don’t go then” if that’s how I feel. But when it comes to saving a lot more money by going there, what should I do?

I think marketing is very important. It has made me buy 2 items that I didn’t quite need but because they were on “sale”, and because the guy was telling me how those items were selling like hot cakes, I couldn’t resist thinking they were good for me too. How many times have you fallen into similar trappings?

Times are not exactly great at the moment so I have to say that spending must be done wisely. It was only after the purchases that I realised how much more I’ve overspend without giving a second thought. Not to say that I regretted my purchases because I still enjoy what I bought, but I could have done without them and have more money to spare or save up.

So the next time you go shopping, try as hard as you can to stick to your shopping list only!
