If you had some extra money, what would you do with it?

Recently a friend had an unexpected windfall. It’s not a large sum of money but it’s quite a bit that she could save up or consider spending on something that she likes. She’s been looking for entertainment centers for her home but since it’s quite a big ticket item, she’s held back till now. Now that she’s gotten some money, she’s more tempted to get it now.

What would you do with an unexpected windfall like that? To me, I would prefer to have it saved up or invested. I think that would make me happy. What say you?

Do couples talk about spending?

When spending becomes a habit, it becomes very hard to curb it because let’s face it, everyone kinda enjoys buying things they fancy. Especially for the ladies. But what about when it comes to something for the home for the family? I had a question posed to me the other day, whether or not we discuss about splashing on expensive items as a couple whenever one of us wants to buy something expensive.

Well I sometimes do, and sometimes don’t. I think it’s the same for my spouse. What about you? Do you go discuss about buying that expensive samsung led hdtv that you’ve been eyeing for the last 2 months? Or do you just go out there, buy it and then justify it when you get home? Or better yet, hope that your spouse really likes and enjoys what you’ve bought too?

Spend wisely

The other day I was out shopping for some gadgets and being an impulsive shopper, I ended up buying more than what I intended. Instead of just going home with the modulator that I planned to purchase, I also had in hand a brand new computer bag and a Promotional usb drive!

I think marketing is very important. It has made me buy 2 items that I didn’t quite need but because they were on “sale”, and because the guy was telling me how those items were selling like hot cakes, I couldn’t resist thinking they were good for me too. How many times have you fallen into similar trappings?

Times are not exactly great at the moment so I have to say that spending must be done wisely. It was only after the purchases that I realised how much more I’ve overspend without giving a second thought. Not to say that I regretted my purchases because I still enjoy what I bought, but I could have done without them and have more money to spare or save up.

So the next time you go shopping, try as hard as you can to stick to your shopping list only!

Would you invest in diamonds?

Recently everyone’s thinking about investing in something. Most people think that every investment tool is going cheap these days so why not take the opportunity to buy something and wait for it to appreciate in value. Well I do suggest we exercise some caution along the way. Not everything is worth going into and not everything is cheap at the moment.

I was surprised when I heard some people talking about investing in loose diamonds and some gold. The latter I do agree somewhat although the price is quite high already. But diamonds, I’m not really sure they are a good asset altogether.

What do you think? Would you buy them and sell it back to the market? I find it a bit risky and I don’t know if the buyers will offer not too favourable prices for them when I’m ready to sell it back.

Buying an expensive car results in spending more on car accessories

Do you agree with the statement? I seriously think those who own expensive cars tend to spend equally much on car accessories simply because you don’t want an expensive car to be cheapen by sub-standard accessories, right?

So even the car lamps, spoiler and rims will cost a whole lot for higher end modelled cars. Sometimes I think the cost of these could be a lot cheaper but because they are meant for expensive car, these accessories simply can’t be priced too low or they will be deemed as cheap stuff which therefore isn’t worthy to be fixed on the car!

Do think about these little expensive expenditures that you will end up incurring when you’re thinking about buying an expensive car. It’s not just the yearly car insurance and road tax that will cost you money, these little things when added together can cost you a fortune too!

Do save where necessary if you believe in living frugally
