How do you spot a ADHD?

by specky on December 28, 2009

A friend and I were talking the other day and she mentioned she got to know a mother who was disheartened because her child was diagnosed as an ADHD child. ADHD stands for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. I had never heard of this term until that day and was curious as to how you can diagnose such a case.

Reason I was curious is because kids these days tend to have short attention span and most are really active! Unless there are some really outstanding characteristics to look out for, I wouldn’t be able to tell. I would say my kid is really hyperactive and he does have a rather short attention span. I don’t know if I should be worried too!

In any case, during the conversation with my friend, I also learned that her friend got some help for her child. She was first presented a concerta coupon to go and check out if her kid is really ADHD, after which only did they decide to take further action to help the child out.

Sounds scary that such an disorder exists for children that I didn’t even know about! Did you know this?
