The fatal dengue cases are on the rise. Read the latest press release below:

Dengue update: 33 deaths among 12,179 cases, so far

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia recorded 33 deaths from dengue fever up to Mar 16 this year, an increase from the fatalities recorded for the same period last year.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said that the country also recorded an increase in those infected by dengue with 12,179 cases, so far.

With the recent scary announcement that dengue cases are on the rise, here are some ideas and suggestions for you to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes. It’s best to be rid of them but if you aren’t able to get rid of mosquitoes, these tips to avoid mosquito bites may help you too.

1. Don’t hang around in dark areas since you will find these to be highly infested places.

2. Wear long pants or long sleeve shirts if you have to be outdoor at some place infested with mosquitoes.

3. Better yet, wear mosquito repellent. These are widely available at pharmacies and come in various forms.

4. To repel mosquitoes, you can also mix a bowl of water with Listerine and line the ground with this mixture. Apparently, this is effective in repelling these pests.

5. Use burning or electric mosquito coils when indoors and set it up near where you are.
