I’m sure you’ve heard of the countless stories of people who got conned thousands of dollars by conmen who ring them up and claim that a relative of theirs has been kidnapped. These culprits then ask for ransom money immediately to be deposited to them.
Many of these victims try in vain to raise money quickly in their panic state without any attempt to check by phone if the said relative is really in captive. They take the culprits word for real and of course given the short period of time for them to save the life of a loved one, the forget to do the logical things.
Although this scam has been widely published to inform the public, many are still falling prey to the culprits simply because they panic. Just remember that whenever you are asked for money in whatever way possible, even if it’s some life threatening calls, do check first before you panic and hand over your life savings.
